I am dieing to find out about the tour dates for the upcoming Rise Against/Alkaline Trio/Thrice concert and the only date known is in NYC. I’m sure people must have some way of finding out the dates or they just happen to know some. They haven’t been released but I’m just wondering if anyone knows of any near upstate New York. Anyone out there?

Moving on, Melba has confirmed my beliefs and sevendust is INDEED in the lineup for big day out. So go ahead, get excited.

I reread an old favorite for my book project as well. The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, great book. You know when you read a book when you’re younger and you remember it as a good book? If you have a book like that I suggest you reread  it. The books that I really enjoy and reread I always enjoy more because i catch more and understand more having “aged” a bit more. (I say “aged” because I’m not sure who would laugh if i said “grown up”). Some books like Junie B Jones you can’t do this with because they’re like second grade books and you only appreciate it when you’re little and like that stuff with the font that takes up a quarter of the page. (They are good books though). But I didn’t really like the movie about this book, even seeing it before reading the book. I’ll have to watch it again  I’m sure but the book is always better and is in this case. I’d have to say though along with the reading a good book comes emotional attachment. I’m not going to hide the fact that when I really get into a book, I can sob like a baby if it’s sad. How can you not when you’re basically enveloped in another world and someone dies or something happens that just makes you tear up subconsciously? I do feel a little stupid when someone asks why I’m crying and I respond with, “The book..it’s just so good.”

Some people understand and others just stare wide eyed before they walk away or just shake their head in confusion. This is why I don’t read in public if I can help it. The other thing about good books is that it can help you get away. Not even like anything is wrong but it makes everything perfect if you get into it. If I’m really into a book and I get lost in the storyline I can get shaken out of it by a phone call or someone calling my name and I’m suddenly very optimistic about life. Of course the opposite happens if I’m shaken out during a sad/angry part of the book. The point is that you get very involved, or at least I do. And Mrs. Waterhouse. When I told her I cried like a baby in Kite Runner she wholeheartedly agreed. So yeah.. pick up a book.

I was listening to the radio yesterday and I think my summer has been made. well not made but brightened. becauuuuse guess who’s coming to big day out? (Well I heard it on the radio and it says on whrl.com that they’re going but the band’s website doesnt say anything yet so I can’t actually get excited) Sevendust! aand nonpoint! So if they are going I’m going. woot woot

OTher than that? School’s almost over aand summer’s almost here woohoo. My job also starts soon which is eh because on the one hand i’ll have money and whatnot, the other being i actually have to get up and do things lol. but im more excited then bummed yayy summer.

By the way the title has nothing to do with the post I just couldn’t think of a title.

Apparently my posts are very long, Doug told me so, so i suppose I’ll shorten this one up.

Does anyone else think that we’ve been ruined by television, movies, radio, etc.? I mean not because we’re all zoned into it all of the time and its a waste of money/time or anything. But I mean because everyone has romanticized ideas of life. I for one feel that atleast I have been. Things in life that shouldn’t be disappointments to me are sometimes because I expect more and I can’t help it. I mean I don’t expect the world to be taken over by aliens and since i’m my own main character I turn into the hero and save everyone and the world. I mean that in normal situations. I don’t want to mention any single situation but one could be friendships. I’d have to say that I have some really great friendships. But the movies have ruined some moments for me I think. They’re completley drama filled yes I know this and some of the movies are based on true stories but they’ve molded my mind to make it feel like that’s how things should be. Friends forever no matter what and you can always rekindle it and be the same people right? Nah. I’ve lost some of my best friends either because they’ve moved away or we’ve just lost touch. It’s not that I don’t like them we’re just different now and I don’t think it could be the same. Maybe you get what I’m saying and maybe you don’t, and i could care less. But that’s what i think and i hate movies and such because of it. Everything should be picture perfect right?

I was very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very.. VERY excited to find out a few days ago that our school is infact going to have one more year of field hockey.

Which is okay by me because it’ll be my senior year next year and none of the nasty underclassman care what happens to the best sport of all time. So, I hope that they all play soccer and during a rainy, muddy game they get involved in a terrible soccer player pileup and break all of their nasty little limbs. As much as I like soccer and like to play it, I wouldn’t play it for this school because it’s replacing the one sport I live for. That’d be stupid of me to do especially when I talk badly about girls soccer all of the time. I’m not sure what I would’ve done if our school didn’t have field hockey next year. When I say that people usually respond with, “You problbay would’ve played soccer.” And I scoff because that’s problbaly the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.  I problably would’ve joined another team in our league but getting to the practices and games would be tricky not to mention I’d problably sit the bench because I’d be an “outsider” and the girls would be jerks about it. So yea I’m glad our school decided to have it for one last year.

And this year? We’re not going to suck. I’m not afraid to admit it because frankly in recent years we have been terrible. Our main objective when the season begins is to score a goal. Which is pathetic in any case. It’s not like we have terrible players either. To be honest we have a lot of talented players we just don’t know how to win yet I guess. In eighth grade we were undefeated which was pretty awesome and since then we haven’t done anything remarkable. I’m going to get in shape all summer and I’m so excited already for next season. It’ll be fun though because it always is and since I’m a senior maybe I can take out all of the girls I’ve been wanting to in the past few years. Muahha….just kidding…sort of.

Has anyone heard of the Fox Trot Hottubs? It’s Greenday and they’re coming out with a new album and going on tour. Tickets are like $20 at the door which you can only get the day of the concert. I thought it’d be pretty cool to go but guess what? All of the concerts are in the west like California and I think Arizona is one as well. So that’s out of the question.

 Another concert that I am looking forward to is the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Fest with Slipknot and Disturbed in August. It was supposed to be coming to SPAC which would have made it that much better being close to home but now there’s a roadtrip involved so it could be more fun. The next closest place is in Darien Lake past Rochester but it’ll work out hopefully.

Originally Sevendust was supposed to be playing on the tour but they decided to break away and do their own tour. But they’re not coming very close to New York where I would be able to go see them easily so that crushed my dreams a little. I was so excited when I read about this concert though. It was like three in the morning and I was half asleep, and I read this on a website and just freaked out. Well not freaked out but I got really excited for it and it made my night. So hopefully that’ll be fun.

Big Day Out is coming up again and I’m assuming it’ll be at SPAC. I’ve went the past two years and it’s been pretty good. Korn is the very last band to play so you have to wait about ten hours to see them but it’s worth it. The bands that have played have been pretty good and I’m wondering what the lineup is for this year.

I’ve always thought about going to Ozzfest but none of the bands appeal enough to me to go so I don’t think i’ll be going. And Warped Tour I went to a few years ago and say Avenged Sevenfold and My Chemical Romance which was good. Now the bands going again aren’t enough for me to make the trip. Rise Against is playing but only the last few tour dates which are too far for me. I’m problbaly going to pick a college in a relatively good location for concerts as well. It won’t be a large factor but Washington Avenue Armory is near Albany so that’d work out if it fit my major and class choices. But it kinda stinks to be in a location that not  many concerts come to that you really want to see.

That’s about it though, rambled a bit but you get the point.

I woke up at 11 because my hair apppointment was at 12 at country girl and i had a faint idea of what i wanted. I was afraid id describe it wrong and hate it afterwards but it came out exactly the way i wanted it to so I was happy. My mom was being all attentive and nice, rushing around like i was getting married or something (prom’s a big deal you know). When i got home my aunt came over to help my mom put me in a dress because i had a laceup back and my mother broke one of the loops on my sister’s dress last year so i didn’t trust her with mine. my aunt laced me up while my mom kept going “carolyn…careful..careful!.” and my aunt would wave her off and laugh saying “joan…i’m fine.” the woman who hemmed my dress also did something that made part of my dress uneven and it wasnt really noticeable but you know it bothered us so my aunt, being the handy woman that she is, sewed and fixed the part of my dress so you couldn’t tell. All while she was doing this my mom needed something to do so she made me a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, the best part being that she cut it into little triangles the way moms do for their toddlers. I had a good laugh at that and eventually i was all done. Zach came and my aunt left, i put on my shoes, zach’s mom took a few pictures, and we headed over for tylers for thousands more pictures.

At tyler’s we posed with people, the huge obnoxious limmo, and my parents. There were so many pictures it was insane, when we stood infront of the limmo there were about twenty cameras constnatly flashing, and my face got a little stiff from the smile. After Tyler’s we went to mill park for more pictures and it was a little buggy. Hence my next dilemma when we took another group shot, you know twenty more cameras flashing, stiff faces, and all of a sudden something flies down my dress. A bug found its way into the top of my dress and proceeded to tickle me, I started to laugh and i bet my face looks just great in a few peoples’ pictures and know you’ll know why i look like an idiot. I couldn’t very well reach in and get it out becuase well people would get frames of me reaching into my dress which could be awkward. So i decided to wait it out, and then… it bit me. The stupid thing just bit me, and flew out. Then it began to itch. It was fine after a while but honestly? That’s just ridiculous.

After pictures we decided to drive around in the limmo because well we had a limmo and who wants to get to the prom p review on time or early? Not Tyler! Fashionably late as they said (jk tyler)…(sort of ). A bunch more pictures there then it was time to line up and walk out. Luckily nothing happened when we walked out  but i turned too quickly and didnt wait the full 10 seconds at the front of the thing. We went down to the risers to stand and my dress got caught on the chair on the way, no biggie though. We stood for a while and i got a front row seat well standing position to see everyone in their dresses (everyone looked really pretty btw).  They called up prom court and i went to walk up, and i got my dress caught three more times on three different chairs in the same spot i got caught the first time i walked down so it took a minute to go meet tyler. we walked out, i tried to turn early but tyler nudged my arm to stay so we waited,  i got some good smelling flowers, and that was that. Kaliegh and Kevin won king and queen (yayy!) and we got to leave.

After preview we took more pictures outside, said goodbye to family, and got back in the limmo. Zach and I sat in the way back so we had control of the pannel of buttons with radio, strobe lights, etc. Once we got there it was smaller than i expected but still nice, we sat down, went outside for a bit, then went back in and had the appetizers. Zach tried to get me to dance but as I told him before, I don’t dance. He tried, failed, and gave up. We took pictures with the magnet man thing which was cool , ate dinner, and then sat again. Zach seemed bored so, i went for it. I dragged him out this time, and made him dance. we danced for the rest of the time and you know what? I actually enjoyed myself dancing! i was a little stiff at first becuase you know i dont dance and it was all rap, (i realized just how white our school was when all the rap songs came on and everyone sang along like ‘from the window ‘ ‘to the wall!’ and all those happy tunes), once journey came on with ‘dont stop believin’ ‘ i was good though and holly helped me to dance.  Eventually i took off my shoes becuase they hurt and before i knew it it was time to go.

We went back to my house after and changed, then went to the after prom party just to see how it was. My mom had bought us a pizza so we walked in eating that and of course they had tons of food already there. We got our fake money and tried a few games but the best by far was the ‘beat the dealer’ where the dealer rolls dice and you have to roll a  higher number. We pretty much stayed there all night, i won some skateland laser tag tickets  randomly and cashed in at the end of the night for tickets. i put one in this random bucket for these little toy cars just because, and the rest in for the $100 becuase zach and i had put our tickets together and i figured we could just split it if we won. We didn’t win anything but it was okay, it was fun.

So all in all, prom was a really good time. I don’t think i would’ve had as much fun though if zach wasnt there. becuase i know i wouldnt have danced, (my friends have tried but i manage to get away) and he was the perfect date (tall, dark and handsome or something like that) so i’m glad he went with me. I know i looked like an idiot but it was fun anyways. I hope everyone else had a good time too, and it wasn’t so cliche, just a lot of pictures and fun. AND i didn’t hate being in a dress like i thought i would, i felt like an octopus becuase it was so wide but i loved my dress and liked wearing it.

I think i’ve written way too much so i dont care if you dont read all of this but this is what i had to say about prom so there it is.

I just hope it’s fun and I don’t end up regretting my decision to go, I didn’t think I would when I was younger. Now here I am, $500 dress, $20 shoes, $200 something for the limo, $80 tickets, some amount for a boutonniere and jewelry, and some amount for a hairdo. I’m just hoping it’ll end up like one of those visa commercials where it’s all the prices for things and then it’s like “finding out it’s all worth while? Priceless.” Who knows though, all i can say is i hope it doesn’t suck. (Partly because Kenny, Maddie, and Chelsea will say how they told me so. )

I read a bunch of horror stories on line from prom websites and a few were pretty funny but the rest were either ridiculously stupid or ridiculously fake. One girl walked her friend to the bathroom and on the way her friend turned her head towards her, and vomited down her dress. Another was a girl who went in a long sleeve green dress with “the boy of her dreams” and brought a bucket of KFC that he told her to bring. In the end it was a joke, he took the chicken, and she went home crying. There were others with combinations of dresses falling down when they had no bra on, dresses tearing off, people getting sick, and people peeing themselves. They could all be made up but some are funny, I just hope nothing happens to sabotage it or ruin it for any of us, (again, Carrie).

And dresses…. I’d have to say that they’re kinda fun to wear because you get to pick up the sides when you walk (at least mine you can). It’s like playing dress- up, but at the same time, it’s great to just put back on your regular clothes in which you feel comfortable like jeans and a tshirt with sneakers. i never used to wear dresses when I was younger except when i had to for first communion or something. This one I have is pretty cool though, it’s almost the exact picture of what I had in my head when I thought of what i wanted to get. When I had it fitted, a little foreign woman did it, and she was about half my size without heels on, and talked fast to me. I had to pairs of shoes to wear, flats and heels, and when I showed her the flats she shook her head and was like ‘Nonononono. Have to have nice shoes.” Then she and my mother continued to pick on my posture. When I made suggestions about the fittings of where to tighten and such she just waved me off so I let her work her magic. I hope everything goes well with it and it doesn’t just fall off. Haha.

Hm what else is there… prom committee and decorations. That was interesting, fun I suppose but there were a few arguments about decisions we made that we more or less solved. I hope the  trees for preview turn out alright, and I hope our efforts aren’t wasted. I feel bad because with softball I have no time to help out after school now, and I feel like I’m not doing anything when I stay after for 20 minutes.

The crazy thing is, it’s only about a week away.

There’s really nothing else i can say other than I hope it’s fun, and I hope everyone has a good time. :)
